Refractory Metallization of Alumina Ceramics for Electrical Engineering


Ceramic to metal bonding was a big problem at the practical application over years because of different thermal expansion coefficient between both types of materials. In order to fix the problems, a thin layer of metal deposited on the ceramic components surface enables brazing to a metal part. In common cases, it referred to " metallized ceramics" or " Ceramic metallization".  The prime types of metallization we covered are Molybedum and Tungsten, also we provide another special in-house metallization formula.

We supply a number of many custom refractory metallized alumina ceramics for use in gas discharge tubes, high current feedthrus, x-ray tubes, and similar applications where ceramic-to-metal, ceramic to ceramic seal joints of superb bonding strength and hermeticity are required.

 specializes in molybdenum/tungsten thick film metallization on 95% alumina ceramics. Also, we metallized high purity alumina, like 99% alumina, zirconia, and beryllia. We utilize electro or electroless nickel/silver/gold plating as the preferred deposition over metallization. The result in a system easily brazed with copper-silver, pure copper, gold and other common braze alloys.

Main characteristics of Metallized ceramic isolator

● Min. electric resistance and vacuum tightness, and less than 1×10-11 Pa•m3 / s

● High bonding/brazing strength, It can be up to 150 MPa after brazing

● High mechanical strength, flexural strength  can be up to 338 MPa

● High insulation, anti-chemical and anti-aging. It will be free of rust forever
